Is Transgender Pregnancy Different from Cisgender Pregnancy?
This May, researchers out of Michigan released a study analyzing nearly 2,000 transgender pregnancies, comparing them to cisgender pregnancies to identify differences between the two groups!
TL;DR: The transgender patients studied were more likely to have chronic conditions and had lower rates of births by cesarean than their cisgender counterparts. No differences were found in rates of preterm delivery or severe parental morbidity.
Regaining Sperm Cells After HRT
A study released earlier this year documented nine transgender women in the Netherlands and Australia as they paused hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in order to create mature sperm. By 17 weeks, or nearly four months, all individuals were able to produce spermatozoa (mature sperm cells). And three of the four trans women who stopped HRT to conceive at home with a partner were able to do so.

Introduction to Doulas
A doula is a person who is hired to help others during intense times of transition. Most commonly, doulas offer emotional, non-medical support for a person as they give birth, but that is not the only time someone may want a doula present. Doulas are available to help others through a variety of challenging times, including post-partum, during the death of a family member, during medical transition procedures, and even during the process of having an abortion.
Desire in Trans Youth to Preserve Fertility
Because the onset of puberty can cause severe distress for many transgender adolescents, there are now options that allow youth and their families to decide to hit pause on natal puberty, giving the youth more time to decide if hormonal transition is right for them. These options are commonly referred to as “puberty blockers.” Puberty blockers (and gender-affirming hormone treatment) can impact fertility, and counseling on fertility preservation is considered a necessary part of care for trans youth.
At-Home Insemination
In the LGBTQ+ community, we are used to having to be innovative when it comes to expanding our families.
